Sunday School Activity: Funshop Gallery

First of all, the Allsup family wanted to wish our friend, Jordan Yerkes a very Happy Birthday today! Jordan, we pray you will receive God’s gift He has for you on this special day! And to all our readers, God has a special gift for you today too. I encourage us all to seek Him with all we have, so that our eyes will be open to what He has in store for us each day.

Below, I have included a link to a PowerPoint for a Sunday School activity that church leaders might be interested in. The goal is to showcase God’s attributes in Art through the eyes of His people. It is a very fun and hands on activity that can be tweaked according to your church’s mission and purpose. Please use it, tweak it, and share it with others. My purpose is that the body of believers can link arms across the world to spread the message of God!

The 1st Plague of Egypt is in my Applesauce

Snack time was interesting the other day. My kids had strawberry applesauce with the “smore goldfish” combo. Our 4yr old son put his goldfish inside of his applesauce. I was walking around picking things up when he said, “it’s like Moses.” What is like Moses? So in a couple of seconds he told me how his inventive snack combination was like the first plague upon Egypt:

Sydney: Well Mommy, Moses turned the water to blood like my applesauce.

Me: Why yes, he did. Then before I could say anything else.

Everyone laughed.

Then they devoured the Plague of Egypt and snack time was over.

What will you give Jesus for His birthday?

A Conversation with my 5yr old, Madilyn Allsup:

Madilyn: I want to go to Jesus’ birthday.

Me: Absolutely! We will have it here.

Madilyn: Oh, I need to get him a gift. (she ponders for a second)

Madilyn: I know! I will give him ME!

Me: Madilyn, that is the best gift of all.

Madilyn: I’ll have to wait until I die though.

Me: You can give Him your gift of yourself every day. Isn’t that amazing?

Madilyn: That is so amazing. Will Noni (her grandmother) be here?

Me: Not for Christmas, she will be in Texas.

Madilyn: She needs to have Jesus’ birthday there then.

Me: Yes, that would be nice. You should ask her.

What will you be giving Jesus this year? Will it be your time, money, or addiction? We all have something to give and the greatest gift is the gift of yourself like my daughter said. If you think about the reason for the Christmas season, it is so that God can give YOU His greatest gift in the form of himself–Jesus Christ.

I urge you dear readers to think about the gift exchange between God and you. Are you going to except His gift of Jesus Christ this year? Are you going to give something back to God? What type of gift exchange will surround your family this year?

**I read a blog recently where someone had left a comment and I thought it was a great idea so I will share with you. They said that they buy a white stocking and write their gift to God on it and then next year they get it out and see if they truly gave God that gift during the year. We, the Allsup family, are going to do that this year and we urge others to utilize this great idea.

Merry Christmas from the Allsups!

A 5 year olds thoughts on idols, Madilyn Allsup

The kids and I were watching the animated version of “The Ten Commandments” and I occasionally stop the movie to explain what is happening. It was at the part where Moses was gone for 40 days and when he came back the Israelites had built a golden calf and was worshiping it.

I began to explain to our kids what was happening and our 5yr old daughter said with a dumbfounded look, “but it’s a deer.” lol, It did look like a deer with horns, but the point is that even a 5yr old can see no value in giving praise and our prayers to an animal.

Are you giving your life over to something that is not real? Today can be your day to turn from that falsehood and give your life to a God that is alive!! Jesus was sent to shed his blood for yours and my wrongdoings against God the father. He then became our mediator between man and God. If we believe in Him, we will not perish but have everlasting life. That is amazing and I urge you to consider your life today and where you will be when you die.

John 3:16 explains Gods love for us all, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Philippians 3:9 tells us, “not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ–the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.”

Be encouraged readers. Your life is not a mistake, you mean so much to God that he died for you! Celebrate today by accepting that promise.
